Wonder why Apple didn't overclock the Mac Studio?

Got me thinking after 2 Geekbench results leaked with the M2 Max, they are showing 2 different clock speeds which you would hope would mean a difference between a laptop and desktop version.

Wonder why Apple didn't do this with the M1 versions. The Mac Studio has a much higher thermal capacity so surely could have coped easily with a 10%-20% increase in clock speed.

They probably wanted to keep things simple given that this is an entirely new product.

I also have been wondering this since the Studio launched.

They have terrific cooling, but similar single core performance as a fanless MBA.

My guess is that Apple wanted to save the overclocking for the next generation, especially if the chips used are just modified M1 chips like the M2 2022 MBA.

Clock speed depends on not only the die size but also how many cores they crammed into it and the package size.
