I've got it to download through that link someone posted, but I don't know how to load it onto iTunes.
Go into iTunes and when you click restore, hold the alt/option key and the choose that file.
Is there a problem with the Software Update? Keeps on giving me a message saying Timed Out (-1001). My internet is fine, but keep on getting the above.
Or is it 20 million people all trying to download at the same time?

Great. connectd my iPhone, it asked to be updated to 3.1, then, after starting process tried to verify with Apple, and left it in recovery mode. tried that, then th esame thing happened. Now it is dead. 5 days old!
Downloading iTunes 9 from the http download to see if THAT will fix it.
