Won't play all mp4 files

Some files I have in mp4 play in iTunes on my iMac but do not appear in my menu of moves in my ATV. If I convert the files using Visual Hub I get an mp4 file and it is recognized and plays fine using my ATV. Can anyone let me know how to get the original file to play without having to 'covert' it? Am I missing something obvious?

mp4 is a container format, it covers ranges of codec. Have u checked the codec in your original mp4 file, maybe they cant be accepted by atv

I had the same problem with my iTunes and iPod Touch. I just converted the ones that didnt play im afraid. Handbrake works a treat.
