3 Ghz FINALLY!!!!

Steve Jobs, please tell me this is in the new PowerMac's!!

The G5 did reach 3Ghz but apple hasn't put them in their powermacs i mean that would make a fool of steve, after he said at the keynote about 3ghz

In late 2005, the 970MP replaced the 970FX in Apple's high end Power Mac G5 computers, while the iMac G5 and the 'legacy' Power Mac G5 continued to use the 970FX processor. In early 2006, IBM announced the PowerPC 970GX, a slightly redesigned 970FX core that reached 3 GHz.

There ya go, i'm gettin tired of tellin people this;) maybe i should post a thread about it

Too bad the 970GX wasn't dual core or have 4MB L2 cache like the Woodcrest. Not sure what the FSB would be (could assume 1500) but that is a negligible difference from the Woodcrest's 1333 since other parts of the system would be the bottleneck.

Xeon DP 5160: Dual Core 3.00 GHz, FSB1333, 4 MB L2 cache.
970GX: Single Core 3.00GHz, FSB 1500, 1 MB L2 cache.

Sorry to burst the excitement bubble but this is rather unfair to compare to old AMD processors i mean like it says the Xeon is comparable to AMD's Opteron which we all know the Opteron outperformed the Xeon and then it also says that the Woodcrest is 125% faster then the Xeon and only 60% better then the Operton, so the only fair comparison would be compare the woodcrest to the next upcoming AMD chip and this was not done.
