Quite a confusing launch- the chip has a number of 5100, while some OLDER Xeons are in the 7000 series!


No wonder Apple doesn't even use these numbers. They just give the clock speed (eg 2.13 GHz).
 
Reuters indicated this was going to happen this week. As for the processor name, why would they rename the processor to core 2 duo? I believe the XEON has a history of using different technologies under the same name, from Pentium II on.

Anyway, this sounds like an awesome processor. I'm anxious to see what it can do.
