Looking for word processor app that I can use for simple text documents but be able to email it to other people who have windows systems. Basically something done in mac and can be read by windows users as well.

For editing simple text documents, you can use TextEdit, which comes with your Mac. If you want more robust word processing capabilities, and frequently share documents with Windows users, MS Word 2011 for Mac is probably your best bet.

I agree with GGJ on TextEdit. It will probably do what you want, and if you save to a format like RTF, it will be easily opened by just about any word processor, and it can even save to Word formats.

Also, though, you could consider TextWrangler or a program called Bean, which is no longer being actively developed, but it is a great lightweight processor that is easy to customize.
