WordPress help (Change feed/move blog)

I'm horribly brand new to WordPress and have really no idea what I'm doing.

That said, I'm willing to learn, but I need some help getting started.

I have my blog running, and I have podPress set up to do my podcast, but I need to be able to use my old feed URL so I don't have a duplicate entry in iTunes. How do I do this? I've found many articles on the Codex, but, because of my inexperience, none really made sense.

Also, does the WordPress install have to be in a folder named "WordPress"? Rather, how do I (in easy terms, so I get it and can learn) move my blog? For instance, right now the WordPress install is three levels deep and i'd like it to just be one level deep... i.e. instead of example.com/something/blog/wordpress/, I'd like it just to be example.com/blog.

Moving Blog

I am not familiar with podPress.... so, no help there...

But, if you still want to move your blog.... basically, all you have to do is log-in to your admin panel ../wordpress/blog/wp-admin , and go to "options"... then, on that page, you will see a deal that says "blog address" and "wordpress address". You want to change both of those to your new exmple.com/blog

Then, press update, and CLOSE THAT WINDOW... you will get an error... but dont worry about it. Now, go to your ftp client, and move your blog folder to example.com/blog. Now, you should be able to open your wordpress admin panel again by going to example.com/blog/wp-admin.

edit: okay, I can't find my .htaccess file except for the one for the whole server (this shows my ineptness... ). Is that the one I'm looking for? It had nothing in it that pertained to WordPress...?

Yeah, I wouldnt worry about that file....

I have moved blogs several times without ever touching the .htaccess file...

That is why I tried to simplify the instructions for you....

Really, all you have to do is change the address in options, click update... then move your blog, and it should all work.

If you want to back something up... you can go to your wp-admin panel... then go to "Manage", and click on Export. There, you can export all of your posts for backup.

Okay, I'm confused, then...

My first post may not be that clear... or maybe I've just changed my mind since then. Anyway, right now I'd like to have one WordPress directory and several blogs on it, which the Codex said is possible as long as I use individual prefixes in the wp-config file.

I tried just moving the index.php file (after changing it in Options) to the new directory, but no such luck.

Ideas?

Okay, in your Wordpress directory, you should have a folder for each blog. For example you would have "../Wordpress/Blog1" and perhaps "../Wordpress/Blog2". What you need to do is go through two separate installations of Wordpress, one for each folder. Yes, you will need to add different pre-fixes in the wp-config file, but you will have to do that for each blog.

Essentially, you need to install Wordpress in each folder that you want a blog to be in, corretly modifying its location under the general options, modifying its databasse id in the wp-config file, and placin it exactly where you want it, and not just the default location. Then, you will have two separate admin panels for each. As far as I know, you can not control multiple blogs from a single admin panel. (I am not sure if that is what you wanted, but just fyi)
