Is anyone else frustrated with the current mechanics of using two eSIMs when one of them is for work?

Specifically, if I'm using my MacBook to respond to a work text then it automatically switches my line to my personal which defeats any privacy purpose I had to get a work phone number.

My work around on the iPhone at least was to switch my work line into a green bubble (sms/rcs) number only. This helps the issue a bit but it limits my ability to use the SIM the way I want to of course.

I've already sent feedback to Apple, but it would be awesome if they really broke down features that are meant for people who use the extra eSIM for work.

If anyone one knows a work around that would currently stop my MacBook from automatically switching to my personal iMessage line when I am texting work contacts it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm having a very similar situation. Background - life is busy, we can be contacted anywhere on the planet, so it's important for our sanity to be able to maintain separation between business and pleasure. There is a time for work, and a time for relaxing.

I have my Personal line, set up for iMessage, and a Business line, which I want to keep entirely separate from iMessage, the intention being that it uses SMS only, and that is how I have set the iPhone up.

In practice, if I receive a text from a client on the business line and their device happens to be an iPhone, my iPhone will swap over to the Personal line and reply via iMessage, revealing my Personal number in the process. That is not good.
I've done all the basics - made sure the iMessage send/receive settings don't include the business number etc, but still the problem persists.
It's got to the stage where I actually have to shut down iMessage and go back to SMS on both lines just so that I can achieve separation between work.

Can anybody make any suggestions?

So, it’s counter intuitive, but the fix for me was to include the work number in my send/receive for iMessage. When you do that, iMessage replies from the same phone number or email address where it received the message and your personal phone number will not be revealed.
