worked before, not any more DID NOT UPDATE - now Sim unrecognized - what happened?

Hi!

Using 3GS with 3.0.1 (and happy staying here) that is jailbroken and unlocked with ultrasn0w.
Everything worked fine for months.

Today all of the sudden iTunes says "SIM card not recognized".

WHAT HAPPENED ?

I haven't changed any settings in weeks, never upgraded to 3.1., nothing.

What did I miss here?

I would guess it's a problem with your SIM card or slot. Have you tried cleaning the contacts on your SIM card and blowing out the SIM card slot with canned air?

Also make sure ultrasnow is still installed and wasnt removed by accident.
Maybe try reinstalling it and reboot to see if it helps.

thanks for the quick answers.
I tried reinstalling ultrasn0w and rebooting - does not solve problem.
I don't understand the thing with removing the SIM, since I haven't touched the SIM in months (and have no contacts on SIM - only on iPhone).

Any more ideas?

Try removing and reinserting the simcard anyway.
Restart the phone and then reinsert sim.

was worth a try: SIM in and out and problem still there.

Has anything changed lately on Cydia that could affect this?!

I usually just install Cydia updates (as opposed to Apple's - ironic, isn't it?).

Or has Apple done something? I'm sure all hell would be loose on the forums if that were the case.

Other ideas?

I dont think its a cydia or apple thing.
Your best bet is if you cant get it to recognize the sim to restore and rejailbreak.
Also try resseting your network settings to see if it does anything or put your phone in and out of airplane mode.

OK, one more hint - maybe you can help:

I tried connecting to my iPhone through Finder (connected through SSH) and it connects but the name I gave my iPhone is now simply "iPhone". Also iTunes did not recognize the name of my iPhone. It simply says iPhone.

Maybe the problem is not the SIM, maybe some other setting have been corrupted?

@Applejuiced - I tried the airplane mode - no success.

You say restoring, rejailbreaking and reunlocking is the only solution left?

now I've lost connection to my WLAN and it doesn't accept the password ... things are getting worse!

Where is this coming from?

Something got screwed up. Just restore it and rejailbreak it.
It's a pain but It will work.
