Hi! This is more of a general query on what kind of workflow you are using for getting images off the camera, to the ipad and the synced camera roll.

What I currrently do:
- Stick SD to USB C adapter into ipad.
- Dump all current images into camera roll, all bad and meh images as well.
- Favorite, or ´heart´ the good ones and edit if needed in Lightroom.
- Using lightroom I create a new album, add the good ones into that new album, and edit as needed.
- Export the edited ones back again to camera roll.

Now this workflow somehow works, but it is not pretty. When using the camera roll, the advantage is that I have them on my phone as well. However, this leads to a number of duplicates and what not and only Lighroom having the albums, like “Summer vacation 2019” etc.

I would like input on what workflow other people are using, so maybe I can pickup some tips on how to do this.

Thanks for creating this thread, I was about to ask the exact same question.

Are you able to import all your pictures directly into the photos app ? (to be able to sort them easily).
Because at the moment, I have to import them 10 per 10 into lightroom because I can’t all at the same time (only have “the copy to lightroom” option which doesn’t work). I was precisely looking for something less boring. It’s very long when you have hundreds of pictures ... Furthermore, the sorting process is not so easy directly in lightroom.

That’s the only last issue I have to fix to leave my macbook completely.

Thanks per advance.

This seems like a great opportunity for a Shortcut. Will have to look into that.

Yes, I recently emptied my memory card this way on iPad os 13 beta 4. Now, it did fail me when importing more than 150 images at the time (large jpeg, no raw), but I able to take them all in, and then upload them to our shared OneDrive folder via the files app. The files functionaly does seem a bit buggy now, but it does work somehow. Or you do manage.

I am aslo able to import multiple into the camera roll from the Photos app. The photos app seems more polished than the files app atm and this works well. However, adding in Lightroom, complicates the process a bit. But that may be due to my limited experience with LR.

Ive also created a shortcut, I did basically what he is describing in this video.

You should in IOS 13 be able to import/export photos to Lightroom and other photo editing apps. This will however depends on the developer updating the apps to take advantage of this.
