Working with iCloud

How do I see what's up on iCloud? I created an account using the iPhone and I want to see if any of the stuff I have on my phone has been backed up on iCloud.

Log in to iCloud.com and check, or put the necessary software in your computer.

When I go to icloud.com it sends me to a page where it gives me the option to install find m phone (which I've already done) and to "set up icloud on this device" (which has also been done). When I click on set up icloud on this device, it takes me to the apple.com/icloud website where it has instructions on how to set it up using a computer. Is this right?
