I was searching to delete things on my iBook and I stumbled on a folder over 1 GB! It is called 2005 World Book. Has anyone opened/used it? What is it? Should I delete it?

It's an encyclopaedia-like application with pictures and videos for various dates in history, people, places etc

If you're trying to save space and don't plan on using Garageband or iDVD, they'll save a lot of room once you delete the loops/themes in Application Support.

i don't have this on my powerbook and its the current 12inch.. o well, sounds cool tho!:)

Pro Macs (PowerBook and Power Mac) come with slightly different software to consumer Macs (iBook, iMac, mini). The apps on your PowerBook are aimed slightly more at the professional compared with the approach of the consumer bundled apps, which are aimed at home use. :)

yeah i remember the apple salesman sympthsyzing with me on this one. I figured out at the apple store how the ibook came with appleworks, while powerbook comes with nothing (besides the 30 day trial) and thought that was kind of mest up. o wel tho, got that student rebate on ms office, and no complaints here!

i think its just a little weird as to why apple would not put apple works in the powerbook but the ibook..

I have spent time using the WB while at Apple and I feel it is very nicely put together. If you are desperate to free up space, there are other options to be considered before you delete the multimedia encyclopedia. Explore it and then you'll be in a better position to know if you would likely open it only once a year or so.

I deleted it almost straight away.
If you don't require GarageBand or iDVD, I would definately remove those as well.

I have deleted iDVD but not GarageBand. Even though I havent used GB yet, I hear it sounds fun and even though I and my neighbor know nothing about music, we figured we might fiddle(no pun intended) with it and maybe have some fun. Besides, even though I have a 37.14 GB HDD, I havent even used 10 GB yet. I really dont even need to delete anything.
