Anyone having any problems on MacBooks/Pro?

I'm really having massive heat issues.
During Cata(4.3.4 or before), I didn't have any heat issues at all.
I even played Cata yesterday.

But today after applying 5.0.4, I'm sometimes hitting 90C and averaging around 80 to 85,
Even if I set my fan control software at a high rpm.

Try lowering your video settings. Mists of Pandaria has some new graphical enhancements, albeit smaller changes than Cataclysm had. This might be the cause of your problem?

It could also be possible that you had a framerate limit previously that was reset during patching, take a look in the settings.

I'm a fairly new player (no more than a week), but I actually found out that the new update messed up most of my pet management options. In Spellbooks & Abilities (I think that's what it's called) the Pet tab is missing. Also, the table of commands (the table above your numbered attacks) for my pet was missing so I had to insert a script to be able to view/use it.

I'm sorry if I didn't describe the issues I had very well, but I'm very new to this game and don't fully comprehend it all yet. I'm playing the latest expansion of WoW available, Cataclysm, by the way.

Leveled up 15 times today! :)

Went from Level 15 to Level 30 in about 5 hours.

Well, they did move various interface stuff around, take a look in all the possible places =)

Can't tell you exactly where to look because on EU maintenance isn't over yet.

80-90 is normal temps for MBP with full load.
As someone suggested, maybe you had frame limit active before?

They have modified the full screen mode and resolutions. Also, previously you could use an option to have CMD work as CTRL, freeing up CTRL key for a function like push to talk in Ventrilo etc. That way all my keybindings were like CMD-1 CMD-2 and so on, but now they are CTRL-1, CTRL-2... So I can't push push to talk and play at the same time. CMD and CTRL do work interchangeably though.

I would post about this on the Mac support forums but only you need an american WoW licence for it :(

The pet management tab has been moved to a separate interface. If you have the stock UI set up it should be on the bottom right (icon is a horse head). The new interface manages both mounts and pets. FYI, you can name your companion pets now (just right click on the appropriate pet and there's a drop down menu).

shift-p :)

Started playing wow again over the weekend it ran perfectly on my gfs macbook 2009 spec. After the patch I can't play it anymore the game runs fine for 2-5mins then the framerate just glitches out big time. It goes all laggy like the computer is loading up something massive and it doest it in one second intervals. Closing the game and restarting it sorts it out but only for the same 2-5 mins I have turned the gfx settings right down updated the drivers on the nvidia 9400m but still no luck. Any advice on this would be appreciated as blizz wont say anything when I post on the tech forums. Cheers

This is a huge patch to the game and a lot of new graphics/sounds need to be downloaded and the files on disk "optimized."

Some of this activity happens on demand e.g. when you go to an area you hadn't been to before you may suddenly be downloading or grinding the HDD as the game re-caches things.

The game launcher usually handles optimizing/downloading but you still see it happen in game when you go to areas with lots of people for the first time (all the players armors/weapons/mounts have to be re-cached) or to a large new area like when changing continents, going to Northrend for example.

Performance should even out after letting the game go for a while, its normal for the most part.

And if you are worried about heat, try going to the Options (press Esc) and in the Graphics controls turn down the view distance and/or water effects. Those two will go a long ways toward dropping the power needed to run the game.

Tweaking graphics settings in desktop games is normal and expected. It doesn't mean Mac OS X is junk for gaming or the game is "unoptimized" or is a "bad port." You'd be amazed at how many people play WoW with most of the visual effects turned completely off and the graphics set to the lowest setting.

If you are using addons, make sure they are updated or turned off. Patch day always creates issues with addons. :(

On my laptop I've always ran WoW at low settings/30fps to keep down on heat/fan noise (cept for view distance)

Since this patch though it's running hot on the same settings, and my fans are full blast the entire time I play. I also noticed the graphics look alot worse on low settings than they used to.

Blizzard responded to these issues on the forums, saying they're working on the issues but no guess on how long it'll take:/

Blizzard acknowledges this is an issue, and is apparently working on it. Many, including me, see high CPU usage (and heat) even sitting idle at the login screen.

This is not supposed to be normal.

Their is an issue and a unofficial fix. Their was a post in general about 18 hours ago but I did'nt bookmark it as I was fine when I checked.

Try mac customer support forum.

I guess they have it fixed on beta update. hopefully they'll push a fix by tuesday at the latest

Get out while you still can.

Is anyone having issues with 'right click'?
I was fine using addons such as Healbot and Vudoh which allowed command+click to act as right click, but now it only works say once every 50 tries!
Help? :)

Edit: It seems tapping the track pad acts as left click only, but pressing it enables the right click o_O

I almost started playing in '06, I started in mid August when I got my new rMBP, I absolutely ADORE the game.

I can see the addiction beginning...

It's an experience, not a game.

That is how it begins, it hits your bloodstream and then you are floating on a magic carpet above the clouds, stargazing and puffing on the finest weed in the Southfarthing...have fun and take frequent breaks:)
