From Patch Notes: The latest patch of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade shows a benefit on today's popular multicore processors like the Intel(r) Core(tm)2 Duo processor family. The enhanced patch has demonstrated higher frame rates by spreading the work across both processor cores. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/

I have a 24" AL iMac, and I'm downloading the 2.3 update right now. Have any of you seen a performance bump?

Performance is ****.

MY MBP 2.2GHz with 8600mGT is performing like my old Powerbook G4 did.
FPS is Alterac valley and Shattrah is down to 10, from stable 30-40++

Here is a snap of me having 2.8 FPS in AV

no real differnce

here is a ss of my Ui in shattrath. I have all settings on highest . This is on my Mac Pro with the x1900xt.

It was 30 fps before and still is.

I have noticed you are still using the blizzard ui for your buttons. get bartender man and clear all that clutter!!

Dammit, your avatar picture made me smack my lcd screen. LOL

My iMac performance (I must have had a good restart since I haven't had lock ups in 12hrs) has been a tad bit better.

I like that UI mod. I might have to look into it.

AG unitframes is the character avatar mod. Bartender for the bars. EEpanels for the grey sections after the bars. Simple minimap for the map mod. Fubar down the bottom. KTM threat meters are a must - I am a mage with 1200 spell damage and 28% crit so aggro is a real problem. Big wigs for instances.

I haven't found a suitable mod for the raid ui but as a mage I don't really care for other's health or mana :p

Here is my UI. Has nothing to do with shatt, but since the most recent patche. In Shatt I've been running at nearly 40+fps with the graphics up all the way.

On a 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro with the 256 graphics card I saw a pretty reasonable bump in framerates... from 25-30 in Org to 35-40. The graphics settings defaulted, but I think I got them back the way they were.

24 fps there looking down, in al'ars room. I guess you have 10 fps if you look to the platforms? Thats unnacceptable for a new 2000$ machine.

I do altleast have reduced performance after the patch, running my last gen MBP with 10.5

If you look you'll notice thats Kale's room

Performance for me has gone down since Leopard. I have noticed a significant decrease in "smoothness and fps" since I installed 10.5. I haven't noticed any change since 2.3.

I have patch 2.3, not leopard. FPS is still consistently 60-70 on my new imac 2.4ghz. Im happy. I'll have to see how it runs with leopard.

I said in Shatt i get anywhere around 40+ fps. Obviously during a boss fight when a bunch of spells flying around, your fps are going to go down. And yes, its Kael's room, not Alar. Fail.

I'm getting a 30-35% increase in FPS with this new patch. At 1,900 x 1,200 resolution I'm now getting 35-52 FPS in Shattrath with all settings maxed except multisampling. This is great! I still haven't installed Leopard yet though, maybe that's the difference?

I have noticed that my average FPS has gone down a bit. But now it spikes quite a lot. As in I'd get times when the FPS goes really low to like 12 or something. Before this, on Tiger it was much smoother with min FPS of 20+. Also, somehow my client seems to bug a lot. As in, I'd get the crash reporter thingy all the time and it errors out more often now :(

I can confirm that on my 24" AL iMac, I saw a significant increase in FPS after the 2.3 update...roughly a 30% jump (at least) in both indoor and outdoor areas.
A friend of mine running XP on a custom PC with a 2.8ghz Core 2 Duo now gets approx 30% more as well.

Are there any ideas as to why we're seeing mixed results?

>Results: 14-15 fps on my main charachter outside cities, 6-7 fps inside cities, 3 fps inside raid instances, 1 or 0.5 (record!) during fights in raid instances

well i played wow on this with decent frame per second before tbc, even in 40men instances.

i've looked on all forums, FAQs, guides and ancient dusty macintosh spellbooks. No clue to grow fps rate for more than 1.

i've tried to update the graphic board but (and this is the funny part of the story) ATI company doesn't recognize the existence of a Radeon 9700 "mobility", Apple says that the 9700m is equipped only on rare models of powerbook and don't exist drivers from third parts.

Blizzard's technical forum simply didn't help

feel free to ask me any specification about my PB if this can help someone of you in bringing light on our mac-psychodrama
