PS. There is nothing else phenomenal about the Pedion, but again, since we are talking about "world thinnest"... and it was 10 years ago in 1998...

It's about the 'world's thinnest' in *current* terms.,and if you want to get extra-analytical you can also state that he said 'Thinnest laptop in the world' he didn't say 'thinnest laptop in history'

Kinda like.. the richest man in the world today is probably still more poor than the richest man back in the 1800s if you adjust inflation, etc. But saying so and so is the richest man in the world isn't exactly wrong. :rolleyes:

add to that while it may be a hair thicker it by far more function hardware wise. The X505 choose not to do a very huge function sacrifice to be the worlds thinest. The Air if you plug in a USB mouse well there goes all your USB ports.

the sony x505 was available in normal retail stores around here (compared to macs .. which were nowhere to be seen 4 years ago in retail) and austria sure is as far as you can get from japan

i was pleasantly surprised since i especially liked how the keyboard was in front of the device which made typing more relaxed ... and it had a trackpoint like the old IBMs

Great point.

We should pool together some resources on MacRumors and start distributing a laptop with a crappy screen, a 512MB flash drive and no ports but that's less than .5" thick at it's highest point.

Then we could shut Apple up :)

apple always lies to make their customers feel better about being ripped off,

same with the "the fastest vista laptop is a mac" that is the biggest load of BS ive ever heard of. its only the fastest out of the batch PC world tested, and the other competitors were ultra mobile PC's, low end budget laptops, etc. they compared it to the highest end mac book pro? LOL well obviously its going to be faster.

why not compare laptops from 2000 with 2007 models! P3m vs core 2 quad.

im starting to think mac customers believe looks is more important than the performance of the laptop. are these the same ppl that buy a car based on its color?

Damn right, whooo!!!! lol, thats why the majority of us have Macbook Pros, properly low performance :rolleyes:

Does it really matter? Who gives a toss if the Mitsubishi notebook actually is 0.01" thinner than the MBA? I bet if you touched the MBA it'd bend down to be thinner than it.

Apple should get off their high horse and stop claiming it to be the world's thinnest notebook, because it won't be for long. Either Apple will decide no-one uses a display, keyboard and battery anyway and lop them out, or some other company will bring out an electronic piece of paper powered by carbon nanotubes which sells for the small price of an African country. But in the meantime, ultra-thin notebooks are stupid and pointless. They cost too much and they offer too little.
i think we all need to get lives...
