I don't know the owner or designer of this site, but they have faithfully updated this site every morning for at least five years that I know of. How many of you wish yur favorite sites would update more that once every six months!

Hideous.

Nice way to spam your site though. NOT.

42 validation errors, and not even a DOCTYPE!

Ha ha, jokes on us.

I don't really care about design as long as isn't so poorly made that I cry - as long as the content is new, fresh and useful - for instance macrumors - not the coolest design I've seen, but it has content, purpose, the design is decent and the most important thing - the content is fresh everyday I go here - thus I go here daily.

Hey srf4real, how about this site for a regularly updated surf site

The design of these sites, might not live up to the webdesign ideal of beauty. But imo they have more to offer the community than many other sites out there.

Your examples of well designed sites look great but I'm not going to go back there for their design! Whereas srf4real's example generates repeat traffic, which is from where I'm standing the ideal of any website.

If you think these site designs are so bad (outdated) then why don't you offer to give them a makeover in return for using it in your portfolio.

Hey, look, ThunderLounge, macrumors.com failed with 60 validation errors! We must be on an absolute rubbish site, huh? That's your consistent mark as to whether a website is "good" or "bad."

Wah, wah. Way to go personal with that comment, huh?

And yes, I could be easily considered a web standards zealot. I have no shame in that, and wear it with pride. It would be safe to assume that you've not had the pleasure of working with, and for, some of the great disabled people out there. When you see them in their constant struggles with the web, even on big name sites that you think would "care", it gets to you. Web standards aren't a fad, a trend, or stylish. They are the right thing to do. That is, unless the point is to intentionally exclude and discriminate against people with disabilities. So yeah, that's the first thing I look at when someone asks for an opinion. It's that important, and a complete and utter shame that there are so many people out there that just flat out don't understand.

As for this site, being MacRumors, I'd be more than happy to assist them with bringing vB up to standards, without even asking for so much as an acknoledgement of thanks. Yep, standards are that important.

However, I conclude from your comment that you don't care, and probably have zero experience. So, I'm probably wasting keystrokes.

Have a nice day.

Uh-oh. Your "about" page didn't validate. EDIT: Neither did the photos page.

Validation is great, but Thunderlounge.com is even uglier than the OP's site!

Hmmm... the about page seems to be OK for me.

As for the gallery, it's a known issue. I'll be the first to admit I haven't touched it yet, and used one of the default coppermine themes. Time is an issue on that one, and an accepted compromise for the time being. Mainly since it's a photo gallery.

Any further hijacking of the thread?
