I have a 13 pro max. Let's say I turn it off. When turning it on, if I press and hold the power button (the one on the right) and NOT let go despite seeing the apple logo, is it normal for the apple logo to keep looping (appearing and disappearing) till I release my finger?

Really dumb question (sorry), but it's something I just noticed on this phone that doesn't seem to happen on any of my other iPhones.

This is certainly not the world's dumbest question and even far from the dumbest question posed here. :)

With that said, my X will not boot unless I remove my finger from the button. If I keep my finger there, the Apple logo appears but then disappears and the phone stays off and I have to remove my finger from the button and press it again to get the phone to boot.

Thanks for the reply! Ah, I see. I'm trying to understand tech better these days (and not be one of those people who clicks yes on everything that my kid complains about) and have thus noticed a lot of these small things that I'm now curious about that I've previously dismissed or simply didn't bother with. Only just realised how many things I don't understand! Thanks again. :)

You're welcome

When you continue to hold the power button, the phone is trying to boot into Recovery Mode and requires your phone to be connected to a Mac computer via lightning cable. It times out and then tries again until you either have your phone connected to a Mac computer or you release the power button.
