World's smallest Core 2 Duo Notebook

Mouse Computer Japan (MCJ) released a 12" m-Book SW now with Core 2 Duo.

Super ultra portable? The difference in the dimensions is minimal. It's like when SJ talks about thinner iPods, then releases an iPod that's like 0.05" thinner than before. People complain about the 13" MacBook not being ultraportable, but then express their desire for a marginally smaller 12" laptop. I can understand lusting after a 10.8" laptop or something, but not one that's a few millimetres smaller here and there. That's peanuts.

Oh, and the MacBook's frame is a bit larger than it needs to be because of the iSight incorporated into the top of the LCD> Without it, the "frame" of the LCD would have probably been smaller along the top, and then along the sides and the bottom of the frame as well to keep the dimensions relatively the same and not "uneven."

This company isn't using some super-technology Apple isnt using. It still has an LCD, HD, disk drive, etc, so it's not going to be that much smaller. Anyway, don't worry folks. The only thing this computer has got going for it is that it looks like a MacBook.

Meh - seen it all over the place......

That ubiquitous housing has been around for ages and pre-dates the Macbook. It looks cheap close-up and is to be found mostly on budget notebooks in the £330-800 range, such as the Medion Multimedia Notebook MD95716. Surprised that they couldn't find something classier for C2D.

It is made by MSI - search for S270/S271 or the barebones version for 1058/1057. They cost 700$ (barebones) and 999$ fully configured X2 or C2D ... you can find them also at newegg.
