A new version of Wormux, the free, open source Worms-esque game has been released, taking it up to version 0.8. The official blog considers this the first stable release with network support, so if you're into turn-based strategy games where you blow up cute creatures with massive weapons, you probably want to check this out. You can download the game for Windows and for Mac OS X now locally from AusGamers. Check out our Wormux page for a look at some screenshots."

I havent tested it out yet im currently downloading the osx version. will post back when i get the time to play (uni sem finishing up - yay! holidays!)

if someone else tests it out before i do. let us know what you think about it. :D

I liked worms 3D. They recently released a universal binary patch for it, too.

HOWEVER, it suffers from that major shortcoming that all of us are familiar with - you can't play with PC users. I used to LOVE that game, and I always wanted to play multiplayer... but I was only able to do so a few times because I had to rely on game ranger and its oh so very tiny community : \

I love Worms! Even brought my laptop to class during the last couple weeks of high school to play with friends.

I'm not a console gamer, but I almost bought a Wii when I heard there was a Worms port. Alas, there's no online gameplay which would have been the best thing about it. I'll have to wait until I can get an Intel Mac to play again.
