Games are very demanding for hardware, especially for GPU so the components heat up more causing fans to speed up to avoid issues caused by heat

It will do that if you play games. They use a lot of CPU and heat your computer up, so the fans will spin up, and I guess the fans in an iMac just get a little noisy, nothing to worry about.

Well, I've played Halo for much longer and the fans never even got close to this loud. This time they sped up after 45 seconds of Halo. That's what has me worried.

I just checked to see if it would happen again and this time they went up to 4500RPM. There's gotta be something wrong if they speed up that high

First off, I would say that you should shut your Mac down and leave it off during the night. Turn it on tomorrow and see what's up. Give it a little break. Worked great for me when I had this problem 6 months ago.

If it still screams after a night of rest, try resetting the SMC.
