I received a Facebook messenger message from a friend. It had a video in it and I stupidily clicked on it. It brought me to a login screen (for Facebook, I think). I did not put it my username or password in the screen.

I am worried that I may have gotten a virus on my iPhone. Should I be worried? Should I do a reset?

Please help. Thank you!

You shouldn’t be worried. And certainly not about a virus.

First off, iPhones really can’t get a traditional “virus” as people think of the word. Viruses are typically designed in such a form that does not permit them to run on Unix based systems (i.e. anything Apple).

However, it is notable to mention that Apple devices can exhibit behaviors similar to viruses that can easily be misinterpreted and assumed to be a virus (e.g slow boot, slow app opening, possible crashes, etc.).

To tie it all back in, there is absolutely no reason for you to fear you have a virus on your iPhone. The only minor concern that you might have is a privacy issue with your Facebook. If it prompted a login, there is a chance an application or unauthorized webpage may have gained access to your account and have your password. I would only recommend changing your Facebook password. After you’ve done that, then there is really nothing else to worry about.

Hope this helps and have a great evening!

Cheers!
