Admittedly, I am. I ordered in January and it is getting nervously close to the 3/7 deadline. Plus, I'm not sure if Apple plans on doing all the preorders made from Apple website before it fills the orders from third parties (i.e., will a 2/1 preorder on apple.com be filled before a 1/20 preorder on amazon.com).

What are you planning to do if your MacBook Pro still hasn't shipped after 3/7? Will you:
1. Cancel your order and reorder (thereby putting yourself even further down the waiting list) or
2. Wait for your MBP and hope that Amazon still honors the rebate?

Just wondering what other people plan to do. I may opt for #1 since $150 is too much for me to risk.

Regardless, amazon.com will honor the rebate. I think this 150 dollar rebate actually doesn't need a packing slip, but rather is electronic.

All you need to do is go to http://app.parago.com/promocenter/amazon/index.shtml and it's pretty much fully automated based on your order number.

Regards

Victor

I called and emailed Amazon and they said that they would honor the rebate regardless-that you just need to call and tell them when you submit your rebate and they will push it through. And the rebate is electronic which will be less complicated, I think.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see Amazon get a shipment in before the end of the month...they are notorious for giving out very conservative ship dates when it comes to unreleased products.

Really? I emailed Amazon, and the customer rep told me that the rebate terms are what they are without too much more explanation. I took it to mean that if the computer came after 3/7, I would be sol.

Yep...I called and spoke to one of their customer service reps. and they made a note about it to have on record. Amazon has excellent customer service-I've never seen a company go out of their way to the degree they do to ensure that the customer is satisfied-they'll take care of you.

Yeah, well. Not to derail, but I'm not overly impressed by the rebate process at Amazon... I bought my iBook from them (see sig) on 12/16/05, got it 12/21/05 which was very fast, I sent the rebate paperwork the next day 12/22/05. It says, 8-10 weeks. Well, Feb 1 I get an email from them, telling me that they received my paperwork and it's being processed... WHAT? It took them almost 6 weeks to receive my paperwork? Regardless, I go to check the status online, and all it says is "received and being processed"... and tomorrow, 02/23/06 it will be 9 weeks - so far no sign of the rebate. I guess I'll give them the full 10 weeks before I squawk, but I wouldn't say they're super fast. I got my Seagate rebate (see sig) in 3 weeks... impressive. Generally, I like Amazon, I've been a customer since 1999, and I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars with them. YMMV.

Has anybody been able to get their rebate? I ordered on Jan 18th and my MacBook Pro 2.0 GHz arrived last Friday. I attempted to process my rebate online today. This is what I got:

Your rebate is unavailable for submission at this time due to one or more of the following reasons:
- Your order may not have been processed for shipping.
- You may have entered an incorrect Amazon.com Order Number
- The e-mail address entered does not match the address for the Amazon.com Order Number
- The promotion that you are attempting to submit for has expired. No further rebates may be submitted for this promotion.

Please re-enter the information or return in 24 to 48 hours to submit your rebate

I talked to CSR today, but received a response that I need to return my MacBook and reorder it. I am going to call again tomorrow and see if another rep can resolve this better. BTW the MacBook is an awesome product and I don't want to return it!

Amz Rebate sucks!

What that's crazy. I got the same message when i was trying to file my rebate. They better not make me return my computer... That's grounds for a class action suit:mad:

mine is on the delivery van right now, will let you guys know if the same problem arises...I am sure it's a database glitch and amazon will sort it out, sooner rather than later...

Just an update from my call to Amazon this morning. They were willing to submit the rebate for me, although they were unable to find the rebate in their system. I gave them all the info off the rebate form and said they will send me email when they submit the info. Sounds like things are resolved I just hope they follow through.

Talked to Amazon

Luckily, I had called Amazon at the beginning of Feburary before I ordered. I was assured by a CSR that there wouldn't be any problem with the rebate. Actually, he said the the rebate web site would take the rebate (which didn't happen). He made a note in my order that I had called, so the CSR today said that they would try to honor the rebate even though the postmark period had passed. She said that they have to do a manual processing of the rebate which will take from 6-10 weeks. I hopeful that it will go through. I'm really glad I called them before ordering because I have a feeling that many people may be SOL because the post mark period has passed.

Just call Amazon
800-201-7575

Tell them that the rebate expired but that it was a pre-ordered item that wasn't released until <insert ship date>. I'm not getting the rebate, but they are giving me a $150 chargeback on my credit card.

Good luck!

I was also having problems with the rebate page.

Rebate information:
Purchase from 3/1/2006 to 3/21/2006.
Submit by 4/21/2006

My order:
Ordered: 3/9/2006, shipped 3/10/2006.

Got the same message that mar and jungsuh talked about, above.

So, I called up Amazon, and got a $150 refund on my credit card. Granted, it'll take a day or two to process, but this ended up better than the several weeks I might have to wait for the traditional rebate. :)

I ordered my iMac back in Feb. (got it 8 or 10th) and my rebate has gone smooth so far. I liked the idea of doing it online so that at least I could get a screen shot of the process for proof if something went wrong.
Give them a call as from other reports Amazon gave the customers their money (rebate) back after the calls.
