Worried about thinner MacBook Pros

The current 16" MacBook Pro has the best speakers I've ever heard on a MacBook and it has become my mail media consumption device. I even prefer watching movies on my MacBook Pro instead of on my TV.

What will happen to the speakers if they actually return to their thinness fetish? There is no way that sound quality isn't the first thing that will be sacrificed, right?

I don't personally see the Mac's ever getting thinner. The HDMI port alone has to be appropriate size. I don't see Apple going for Mini-HDMI port. The MacBook Air i can see staying where it is as well. The iPad Pro M4 is 5.1mm thick because it only has the 1 USB-Port.

Don't be worried about such things in your life. And if you have a current 16" Macbook Pro you're going to get a solid 5-10 years out of it. If it's as perfect for you as you say it is for your uses, unless it stops working prematurely, whats the concern?

Well, there have been a lot of rumors about a thinner redesign. And I upgrade my laptop every two years, so I can still get a big part of the price for the new one from selling the old one. And it's a tax thing, since I can claim it as a work laptop. So I've been on a two-year-cycle for the last 20 years.

Yes, nobody forces me to upgrade, but the current talk about "the thinnest and lightest laptop ever" still worries me.

I have a 15" MacBook Pro 2017.
I like the Touch Bar and love how thin it is.
I want to upgrade to a new M4 pro/max chip but the new models are too thick. I don't want to downgrade in screen size, so I think I will wait until the next redesign hoping for it to be thinner. I can't see myself traveling with the current 16" model...

While I agree the 2016-2019 macbooks are the sexiest laptops of all time strictly from the looks, I would happily sacrifice that design and get instead the cooling and (sustained) performance (and the ports) in the "fatter" macbook we have today. Also, in 18 months, I am yet to hear the fans in my 14 M1 Pro. So for the time being I am happy camper. What we have today is the updated 2008-2012 (pre-retina) unibodies with today's specs. Not that bad.

Agreed, I've only ever heard the fans on my M2 MBP Max idling a tad using Handbrake. On my 2009er they're constantly jet-engining with minimal browsing, although dropped some RPMs after repasting.
