With the public launch of iOS 9 next week, I have to say I'm kind of worried. I usually never install GMs on my device and this is the first time I've decided to. But looking at how it's running and I've set it up as new, I'm scared to think what would happen when I restore from a 8.4.1 backup. Any inputs/past experiences Apple veterans?

What, exactly, are you worried about?

iOS 9 GM is far far better than the conditions of iOS 7 and 8 at launch. They were unusable with lag, stutter and random reboots.

Provided, this GM IS the same version byte by byte to be released to common public next week, we will be alright.

Define 'beautifully'. For people looking to upgrade we want specifics, not buzz words.

If it's still available, install the public beta and find out for yourself. You've been around long enough to know that people with identical devices can have extremely different views about how well iOS runs.

I had the GM on my 5S from Wednesday until about an hour ago. The battery life was abysmal. (about 9-10 hours standby and 3 hours of use dropped me to ~20% every day). Additionally, there was intermittent but quite frequent stutter and dropped frames during animations, usually on the app switcher and when opening the control center or notifications. It just felt sluggish and clunky compared to 8.4.1. This was all from a clean restore and set up as new device.

I just dropped back to 8.4.1. I really hope this GM is not the same version as the public release coming Wednesday. I will probably be waiting until 9.0.x or beyond if the 5S battery life issue isn't resolved. What sucks the most is I already put watchOS 2 on my watch, so I can't use that again until I upgrade to a usable build of iOS 9...

Mine was atrocious too on my 5s....until I replaced my way past 1000 cycle battery ;)

Nothing is going to happen. Stop worrying.

Haha touché. My 5S has ~250 cycles. What's alarming is that the usage time on the 9 GM is half to a third of what I get on 8.4.1.

It's only on my 5S though. My iPad Air 2 and iPod touch 6 both have about the same battery life and less performance issues. They are both A8 SOCs though....

Historically, X.1 tends to be the OS that improves battery life.

I hope so. As of now, the GM runs quite terribly for 6+ users so one can only hope that they push out 9.1 ASAP.
I think you are much more likely to get 9.01 in the next few weeks, with 9.1 coming in November. Still, 9.01 should have some meaningful adjustments.

As bad as 9.0 runs on the 6+ I'd expect 9.01 very quickly. I'll be very surprised if we don't see it at the latest on the 25th with the new phones.

Hi,

As long as i can use Safari , send and recieve eMails and text , make phone calls and the battery still gives me 1 to 1.5'ish usage i'll personally be ok to update on my iPhone 6Plus and as per previous times update to the new patches as they are released.

I fully understand the frustrations with the stutters and lags but I can live with that as long as i can use the above functions i mentioned.
