Ugh....

My county's schools website have the worst designs I've ever seen. And now, I will present what the sites were made with.

Nashville Primary School: Microsoft Frontpage 5.0
Nashville Middle School: Microsoft Frontpage 5.0
Nashville High School: Adobe Pagemill 3.0
Ashley Grade School: Adobe Pagemill 3.0
Hoyleton Grade School: Microsoft Publisher 2000
Johannisburg Grade School: Adobe Pagemill 3.0
Oakdale Grade School: Microsoft Frontpage 6.0
All Okawville: Adobe Pagemill 3.0
St. Ann's Grade School: Netscape Composer 4.7? (Whatever was in 1995)
Trinity St. John: Unknown

Nashville High School is the biggest eye-sore for me. I hate how all these pages have so many images, and for me on dial-up, it's horrible.

I'll be going to the school this year and hopefully when I reach webmastering or whatever, I can turn the site around.

Good old Pagemill... it's where I started... like 10 years ago. But don't berate the schools... finding someone to do it is tough on the budget. I'd suggest a web club to take over. Maybe a volunteer making a master site and having a few folks use Contribute. Keep it simple, dude. It will only improve it.

I know it's hard to do on a budget. I hope that they get a budget increase to get new software instead of running 5-10 year old software on 2 year old hardware. Hopefully I can turn that around later.

Still working on my resource page

I just sucked most of the links off of other sites and are still going through them.....it will get better....Mike

We get the point that you think his website sucks and that you think Microsoft Office Live is a terrible service. For feeling as though a site is terrible, you sure do expend an awful lot of energy on it. Why not let it die?

As far as I can recall, the Internet was not borne of "what's flashy here and now" but rather as a means of exchanging information. I received relevant information from his site, and so his site did what it set out to do. Yes, it was distracting, but not any more so than those "super cool" flash-based websites that break my browser.

By the way, throwing around validation errors, your site brings up anywhere from 36 to 44 warnings/errors per page. ;)

The point is you can't find the site if you use a search engine. 12 pages of Google and nothing http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=HI+AMP+Electric&btnG=Search . Office Live takes forever to load. And, I know there are 30-40 on some pages, but don't care. Not like I have validation errors for :

This page is not Valid (no Doctype found)!

Oh, and I just checked it it went up to 3215 errors. Why does Office Live spit out **** code?

point taken

I get your point from a webmasters view, but I've never tested any sites I visit. I go there and get the info I need and I'm gone to another. I also type in the subject I want in the address bar on internet explorer (if you try (electrical resources or electrical humor) my site comes up on the first page of a msn search. This is exactly what I wanted. My site averages30=75 hits a day pretty good for a new site designed by a total newbie with a do nothing site with nothing but a boatload of links on it.besides its free. Im sure if I could afford to have someone like you design a site I pay out the nose for It would meet your approval.Until then I'm very happy with what I've got.

Don't worry Hiamp- I wouldn't take any site advice from a guy who has google ads on his own 'web design' website.
