Worth getting logic board replaced?

I bought my MBP at the very end of June. It gets hot, the cpu whines, the screen is bowed slightly at the corners, and the hinge is a little loose. No big deal i love it. I heard you can now get your logic board replaced to try to fix the CPU whine problem. I am going off to college in a couple weeks, but i could live without the laptop for that time. I dont really want to go through the process of taking it in and jumping through the loops though. The only way i would really consider would be if they would upgrade me to the new Core 2 Duo. I mean i did pay $2500 for a bunch of defects, even if it was knowingly.

Should i take it in? Try to get a new one?

I would get your model in even if you aren't given a new one. Let them fix your macbook pro. You are playing content with a defective product. Who knows how bad it will be by the time school actually starts and it dies on you when you have a paper due?

Case in point: me.

Get it fixed and don't worry about getting a new Core 2 Duo.

Websites suggest the new Core2Duos are given a 5-15% OVERALL performance which means all around speed w/ a various number of different applications, so no all applications will run at less than a minimum 5% or maximum 15%. The article also suggests it's not worth the upgrade if you already have the current mb or mbps.

If you can live w/o ur laptop for the time being, I also highly suggest you get it sent in and have it fixed asap along w/ all the other problems so you won't have to do it again.

I have one of the early ones (Feb) and it gets freaky hot when charging battery, but my desktop is jacked so I have to get it fixed b4 I can send my mbp in for repairs. The turnaround time is known to be 5 business days.
