I have a 1.1.4 iphone virgin, and im thinking of possibly jailbreaking it to hold me over till the apps from the SDK come pouring in. (ill virginize it the second the 2.0 update comes. Anyway, a couple of things. I dont want to lose any of my SMS, but i suppose i would have to in order to do a complete restore for the 2.0 update right? The other thing is, I just wanna know a list of some apps to make up my mind whether or not its worth it. Thanks all.

i have restored at least 10 times and never lost my SMS's i dont think. i think they sync with itunes and come back when u restore from backup.

and go for it you know u want to ;)

Well i read you should do a clean install (not from back up) when updating because the caches that the files leave. Thats the only thing im worried about. Besides that, i dont wanna jailbreak if the apps arent worth it. What apps do you use in your jailbreak?

Dont quote me, but I know a DFU restore will COMPLETELY wipe your phone until you restore. Then restore and restore from your backup and you should be good to go..
