I use this 2014 Mini with an i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD as my main machine, basically I only keep my photo archive onto it which is what I most care about, LightRoom 9.4 handles it and copies of the archive as well as the photographs are on external RAID1 drives.

I am wondering what would I gain by upgrading and if worth the pain, always wondering if an old machine like mine would gain any speed bump or extra features to make the switch worth.

Grazie a buone feste

Yes but 2014is getting old so I think time to upgrade. I turned 45 yesterday. So I just upgraded upgrade. Since m1 is all the rage now. Plus since its all m1 now this might be the last system 2014s support.

I know its expensive. But abt is 650 sale for the base model rigt now.

And my 2014 2.6ghz 8gb ram 1tb hd is worth 150 tradein. And I can ebay old ipad for 100 easil. So not plus I got apple care.

Well, at 700 US$ is more convenient to buy a new one sometime in the near future, I will wait and see how they perform on the long term even tho I switched to the Mini only because a MacPro is too expensive to face now, the Mini is still a totally limited machine upgrade wise, old ones at least allowed some DIY ones, not the same any longer.

Grazie e ciao
