So, after selling my 2010 MacBook Pro 13", paying the eBay/PayPal fees, and shipping it, the total cost for my MBA (specs in signature) was $400. You guys think it was a good move or a bad move? Was it worth foregoing the MBP and paying $400 on top for the new 11.6"/1.4Ghz/128GB/4GB?

That depends on your use and needs. Technically it is a downgrade if one looks at the specs, but as you have initiated and done that trade, it seems to have been wort it for you.

You made it so you must have thought that it was a good move. It's up to what you need. If more portability is what you want, then it was the right move.

I would have gone with the 13" though

Only you can say whether its worth it. Its your money and your decisions.

You bought a slower computer, so its hard to say whether its worth it or not. We don't know your requirements, circumstances, and needs for such a computer.

Exactly.

When I ordered my refurb Rev B MBA, I had a ton of friends asking why I was buying a "severely underpowered computer at the price of a MBP". Portability and weight of course, as long as it still suited my needs (which it did).

After using one for a week, I was hooked. I let those same friends play with it for a bit and they all said "wow, this is nice... it's so light!" Of course, a week later the new MBAs came out and I sent it back to Apple to get a new one instead.

They still asked me "are you sure you don't want a MBP?" I was very sure, the Rev B was really nice, with all these improvements the new 13" MBA can only be absolutely amazing.

I plan on using mine for casual gaming, email/messaging, basic office productivity, and programming (iOS + Mono). I like being able to do that anywhere I go (aside being anti-social heh).

If what you list in your signature is all you have, it might be a mistake. If you plan or need more power, you are out of luck.

For me, when I have the finances, I will get the 11" . It will be a great companion to my gear. If I need more power, I have a good desktop and laptop to accomplish those tasks.

I Love My 11.6"!!! :D

It could crash outright on me and I'd still have no regrets. It's seriously that great for someone who's been longing for a true portable notebook.

I bought the 11.6, and I really like it. I did not buy it for need of another computer though. With an iMac, MBP 15, MacMini, Toshiba NetBook, 2 iPads, a couple of PC Towers, Servers, Storage................

The big motivation for me was size/performance combo. I originally bought the MBP 15 to use in my office, with three monitors. I prefer a laptop with its built in UPS etc. I got so used to all of the features, I could not make myself take anything else on the road, and I am on the road alot. My wife and I use iChat, now FaceTime, every night. I use Virtual Machines on the MBP, but decided to use BootCamp and MacDrive on the MBA. It is not like it takes a long time to re-boot.

I am loving it so far, and even Windows 7 is impressive on this thing!

I also think it depends on your needs. Do you really need a computer around you all time? Asnwer of this question will be answer of your question :)

As other have said, it depends on your needs, although I wouldn't have personally sold it on eBay, they just help themselves to your money.
