The woman and I are moving into a new apartment soon, and I get permission to get another mac, since we'll be going in on it together. Has to be portable since we don't want to use up space anywhere else. I like powerbooks, and didn't want hinge issues of the TiBook (although I loved mine) so I checked out the 1 ghz 15" AlBook. eBay seems to have them anywhere from $550-$650. Is that about right, or is that too much? online stores like techrestore still sell them at $950 or so, which is a ripoff.

Thoughts?

My friend just got about 800 for his TiBook 1ghz, though it had applecare left for like a month and 1gb ram and a new HD and was in perfect condition. Unless your has all of this, then you can probably expect a lower market value.

Well most of the ones I'm looking at have 256 mb ram, and a 4200 rpm 40gb drive. so, I guess $600 is pretty fair then, eh?

But it is the newer rev, so I'd say 650-750 if you find the right buyer.

Grr.

If they're worth that much, then jeez..i can spend about $250 more and get a refurb macbook.

I just need something cheap, usb 2.0 (for my ipod) and will run itunes and word for the woman occasionally.

I could get a really old iBook, but why? And I don't want to get another Tibook, since I can't always vouch for the hinges.
