Wait then buy a refurb 2011 for less than you can now. Just like when the new laptop lines came out, the refurbs dropped in price by a couple hundred for the 2011 models.

You'll only need the 2011 model for what you're doing - unless they surprise us with a complete redesign and new special features (unlikely).

Hmm okey, cuz i am in the us now where the mac mini is crazy cheep compared to sweden where i live. The problem is that they dont sell refub macs in sweden so should i just get one now anyway?

In your case can you buy a refurb while you are in the country? I think that they are only available online and must be shipped.

If you have to buy new and you will be returning to Sweden shortly then it sounds like getting a current Mac Mini is the way to go since you will be saving money vs. buying in your native country. You get a nice bonus because of the favorable exchange rate; unfortunately, the exchange rate always bites me when I travel to Europe... LOL

If you are currently in the US, yes definetaly buy a mini now and get a better price from the exchange rate. Of course you know that in europe apples conversion rate is 1$=1€ and many times x1.5 times the US price.

So if I were you I would buy the refurb mini while in the US, and if the refresh comes, buy the new mini, and sell the refurb with zero loss
You could even sell the mini with a small profit and would still be a steal for europes standards

Get an Apple TV or NAS box with DNLA for that, or even an XBox should suffice, and they are dirt cheap compared, if all you want to do is basically watch movies.

Remember you might have to pay taxes and/or customs duty when returning to Sweden. I'm not 100% sure, but you should be better safe than sorry and use the 'I brought extra goods' aisle instead of accidentally being picked out of the 'I have no customs to declare' and then have them find stuff like a new 'puter.

A point to bear in mind is that there are some (imho very) minor issues with the HD3000 movie playback which are fixed in HD4000. Something to do with not getting the 23.976p framerate right and stuttering and lip-synch issues. Can't say I have ever noticed myself. But if it's important to you, probably worth reading up about this before buying a 2011 Mini with only HD3000 graphics. (Or get one with a graphics card in it.)

Probably nothing to worry about, but thought I would mention it since movie playback is your intended use-case.
