I'm afraid ML will be laggy and sluggish on my core 2 duo. Snow Leopard has been great, so is there anyone who took the plunge? Is it better or worse for this type of MacBook Pro?

In my experience, performance of ML on a 2009 17" MBP is about the same as Lion. Not really surprising as Apple isn't going to optimise code for legacy hardware. This will probably be the last OS upgrade we get for the older C2D models.

I'm in the same situation I have a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro and can't decide if its worth it. I have no problems with Snow Leopard.

I have the same machine from 2008 and its working fine with ML.

I say go for it, the voice dictation is a great feature.

I've got similar concerns with my 2.26GHz / 2GB DDR3 13" MacBook Pro (2009?). I'm still on the original OS and the laptop has not missed a beat. Kinda reluctant to disturb it but I suspect that this will be the last major update for the older core duos, so equally tempted to try it.

also interested in updating on my 09 MBP 2.53ghz. I'll wait to see how everyone likes it. I'm still on SL with zero problems.

I have an '09 C2D as well. Been running Lion for almost a year, and no complaints really. It works as well as SL. Only thing is that it sometimes feels like it runs warmer than SL. And with recent updates, it seems Apple is really going after Flash as the CPU takes a toll in loading Flash websites (or so it seems from the fan noise).

If you have an iOS 5+ device, then I think you should definitely upgrade to take advantage of iCloud. Looking forward to updating my Mac this weekend once I get some time. I really need the Reminders/Notes iCloud apps on my Mac. Only thing that will suck is that Airplay Mirroring won't work on our MBP's :(

You should upgrade. There will be no security updates for Snow Leopard anymore.
