Worth upgrading to the 5870 from the 285?

As title says. I have a Quad 2.93, using the 285 for gaming in Windows. I've seen pretty decent improvements (10-20fps) on benchmarks, so thinking about getting the 5870. Anyone done this or had experience with it?
Am I right in assuming, like the 285, I can't just put a windows version of the 5870 in my MP? would save a lot of cash...

pc 5870 will work without bootscreen. but it really aint that much better. wait for 6970

Thanks for the reply, Cindori. Where can I read about the 6970? Is there a mac version coming out, or will this work from a windows version as well?

There are a few 5870's going cheap on ebay...I'm tempted.

There will be new Mac GPU's when the new Mac Pro's get released - sometime between now and Spring 2012. I need a new GPU but can't justify £370 for the 5870...
