iPod Worth Waiting for iPod Classic?

So last week I bough a new iPod Nano but tomorrow I will be returning it because I wasn't satisfied with the battery life of the Nano and I looked into the Classic and I saw that it has a MUCH longer battery life. But then I heard about the new line of iPods that are rolling around next month and I was wondering whether or not the Classic will be upgraded as well considering the fact that it hasn't been touched in 3 years. And if Apple does decide to improve the iPod Classic, is it worth waiting for it? Do any of you think that the changes that will [probably] be done to the Classic will be for the best or for the worst? :apple:
 
Give it a month, until the annual September iPod event ends, then get whichever Classic model you want. Because Apple may or may not be continuing the model... only time will tell.
 
If the classic gets updated and you don't like it you could buy the older classic for a much lower price than it is now. So I think you should wait, one month isn't that long is it?

Lol one month isn't that long. Plus, technically it's only like 2 weeks according to reliable resources. ;) :apple:
 
Just wait and see what happens, if the classic hasn't had anything new in the last 3 years, it will probably get something new this year.

That makes sense too. But I mean if they've gone that long without changes then they will probably leave it as is. I mean it is called the Classic right? Haha! But in the end we'll just have to wait and see... :apple:
 
I hope they do update the classic, I only have 9gb of space left and I am not willing to try and reduce the size of my iTunes library yet.

I already have a 120gb classic and I begrudge paying £193 for an extra 40gb of space and no additional features.

U can always dump a 240GB drive in your current one. :cool:
 
i can see them keeping it the same and upgrading the hard drive size. other than that i doubt they will alter it at all. i hope they keep it around because its still a good ipod for those who have a large music library they need on them all the time. mechanical hard drives suck though.
 
I think they will keep the Classic as long as they can't manufacture a 128GB iPod touch. I doubt that they will be able to do this this year, as 64GB flash modules (the iPod touch has 2) are still expensive (the reason the iPhone stayed 32 GB max). I think they will keep the iPod as it is, maybe drop the price quietly.

So I would wait..

There is that slight chance however, that the Classic will get a bump up to the 240GB hard drives. But an unlikely one at best.
 
I think they will use the same 160GB hard drive, bigger 2.7"-3.0" screen, redesign, built in speaker, and better battery life.
 
i have an ipod touch 32gb. it is pretty awesome. but if you only want the classic. they just came out with the new one like four months ago. i think that you should go ahead and buy the 6th generation.

btw it's either the 6.2th Generation or the 8th Generation depending if you count the revisions of the classic as a Generation. they were refreshed more than 340 days ago and have been due for an update for almost 3 month over average. Current classics are pretty good, but if you can keep your hands tight and want the newest classic in the market for a while - wait for Apples annual September iPod Event.

Perhaps they'll give the choice of 160Gb hard drive, 240Gb hard drive or 128Gb SSD.
Bigger screen? Yes, please; the Click Wheel size can be reduced to the size of the one on the 2nd or 4th gen nano, in order to compensate. Keep the upright screen, though; if I want to rotate for video, I'll get a touch.
Built-in speaker: Sure, why not?
Battery life would probably be improved by switching to SSD or better yet onboard flash memory, and using the reclaimed space for housing a larger battery.
Syncing via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth would be cool, but may eat into battery time and available internal space. If Wi-Fi is included, I can envision an RSS reader app, based on the OS X RSS Reader screensaver. RSS would be fine on a Click Wheel device, as the communication is one-way (in contrast to, say, email).
 
I love it when someone who just registered has 'reliable resources' already. please. at minimum, updates won't happen until after September 7th as that's when the back to school event ends. Apple typically clears out old stock with that program. So chances are it's more like 6-8 weeks.
