so im going to be getting a macbook soon, but im debating wether to wait until wwdc or not. compusa has 24 months same as cash no interest until the end of the week. i'd really like to take advantage of this, since it will help me out financially, but i don't want to miss out on any big updates at wwdc. is it something worth passing up, or is a macbook update unlikely?

Personally, I think a MacBook update is unlikely...it's only been a little over two months since they came out. It is possible they could easily pop the new Merom chips into them and have them shipping by late August when Intel says the new notebooks will start hitting the streets, but my feeling is that they'll stick with the current chips for a while in the MacBooks.

But I don't know anything, so there's really no good reason to trust me...it's just a gut feeling.

If the financing deal was important to me (as it appears to be for you), I would probably go ahead and pick up the MacBook now.

If you need to get the good deal I say go for it, I would say no chance of MacBooks at WWDC so you should be in the clear.

Go get the MacBook now and when you can boost up the ram to as much as you can afford. You won't regret it.

I was just thinking why does this offer ends at the end of the week. May be they too are expecting something at WWDC. Though very highly unlikely but still not impossible. May be we can have Merom in the atleast one Model for for a lil extra charge. Or we might have the option of Dedicated grafix in BlackBook:eek: . The chances of any of this happening are less than 1 in a thousand. It`s more of a wish actually.

But since this offer is important for you, just go for it now and get the MB. You`ll like it definitely.

I'd recomment you wait. I don't expect them to come out with new models just yet, but there are too many issues with them at the moment (whine, moo, stains, random shutdowns, ...). The moo may have been fixed and there's a KB article on the stain, so they are fixing things - but they aren't done yet.

Their offer isn't tied to the MacBooks...it's good on any item in the store $799 and up. A one week only promotion.

And I guarantee you they don't know anything about what's coming at WWDC...they know less than we do. A lot less.
