Hi

Since I want to customize the 27'' Imac (upgrade to I7 and 2GB graphics), I cant order it through retail stores (the ppl in the apple retail store told me I have to go online to customize my Imac)

So here comes the question, It is worthwhile to buy Imac right now (I dont have a comp right now, Me and my GF are sharing one 2007 macbook)?

or Its better to wait for the back to school promotion ?

Since I just graduated, I guess Im still qualified for this promotion since the convocation is in mid June.

HOWEVER, that 8GB touch is useless for us as weve already have 1 3gs and 1 iphone 4

but if we negotiate with representative and saying we want an IPAD2, we still have to pay at least $500 US more to get it, which is way over my budget.

anyway, Having an IPAD 2 isnt crucial to us as well since we merely use it for entertainment purposes.

So, do you guys think I should wait for that promotion?

and is applecare "Must buy" ?

I dont really think they will let you put the promo towards the iPad but i could be wrong and actually i would love to be wrong on this one.

I'm waiting for the back to school promo to start back up so that i can finally get a new iPod classic as the one i had before hand(which was a 30GB) was stolen a few months back. I hope the promo starts Tuesday

As said before the promotion is likely starting on Tuesday. It is very unlikely that they will offer any sort of special including the iPad, but it's still worth the wait if you know someone who wants to buy the free iPod or sell it online on craigslist to reduce the overall cost of your iMac (what i've been waiting for).

eBay and Cl are flooded with the Touches right after this promo starts.

My brother only paid about 1/2 what a new one costs by just waiting.

I would just wait since it is going to happen sometime in the next 7 days (my guess is Tuesday). Even though you say the iPod Touch is useless, you can sell it online, or sell it to a friend for cheap and make a little money back. Even $100 bucks from a sale could be a nice dinner, or just savings in general. Nothing wrong with that.

Value of the IPOD being offered on Ebay will be greatly reduced but whatever you get is better than nothing.

The resale amount will be around $200.

I'm also waiting for the back to school free ipod promo before I pull the trigger on a new iMac.

I was wondering though... is it an actual $200 dollar rebate toward any ipod model you want (classic, nano, touch), or is it solely just for the Touch? I read/hear conflicting reports.

And by any model, I also mean model size. If I wanted the iPod Touch 64 gigs, for example, I would just end up paying the difference after I get my $200 rebate?

I believe that's the way they've operated the promotion in the past (exactly what I'm looking to do). As for the prospect of using the rebate against the cost of an iPad (discussed earlier in the thread) - I can't see it happening.

Would be nice to get 50 - 75% off an iPad considering Microsoft's Back to School Xbox promotion!

No way. With that amount being very close to retail and the amount of people flooding the market, many may lower thei price to get a better sale.

People are getting close to retail now on ebay. If you don't just try to unload it cheap the same day you list it you will get $200+.

I'm waiting as well for the back to school sale to start. I'm not sure if I will get the ipod classic or a touch, and also using the printer promotion at the same time. A great value for students seeking new apple products.

Say the promo starts in 1 - 2 weeks (may start sooner if past is any indication). Let's say the resale value of a brand new iPod Touch is at worst $100 - $150.

Is 1-2 weeks without an iMac worth $100 to you?

Unless you have so much money $100 is meaningless to you or you absolutely need the iMac now, then wait.

Speaking from experience, I've always sold my iPod during back to school at $20 down from retail at most.

The resale amount will be around $200.

Yep, as always.
