if somone could try this, when you get them that is, that would be great. just wanna see if i can buy a $30 prepaid sim card and use that in a iphone and cancel that 2 year contract. i know edge wont work. thats fine. and i dont mean the pick your plan one. the go phone one.where you just buy what ever minutes you want when ever you want.

Thanks guys.

Almost nothing on the phone will work without the data plan and iTunes activation.

I would expect this would not work.

As far as I know other SIMs from AT&T phones will not work in the iPhone. They would have to be activated to work in the iPhone. I think it only works where you could use an iPhone SIM in another AT&T phone.

I have two Cingular phones, and both the SIMs are interchangeable among the two phones.. so if iPhone was any other phone, I would guess you could swap it around...

But the fact that iPhone is more of a status symbol will cause Cingular (ATT) to lock it to a particular SIM... or so I think.

it's been posted numerous times already. the SIM from the iPhone will work in other AT&T phones, but other SIMs will not work in the iPhone. the iPhone comes with it's own pre-installed SIM.
