It would be an interesting test. Since the phone is being charged it should prevent any throttling issues.

You would accelerate your battery wear further by constantly charging it

Not if it’s an Apple Battery case. Apple Battery cases talk with the CPU and provide the needed power. Hence why in an Apple battery case, you don’t have ON/OFF switches. In fact, it better regulates your battery as the CPU now handles how much power draw is done.

It pains me to know apple won't make a plus sized smart case. I love everything about it, even the ridiculous $99 price. A plus battery case from Apple would most likely be $129 or so. I'd buy it.

I’m assuming that they won’t make it plainly because the weight it would add to an already “heavy” phone and the total mAh rating would exceed certain limitations on planes. I’m assuming.

I mean a battery case but nature is big and bulky. They must not think there is enough demand, and they're probably right. There are only 2-3 reliable plus sized battery cases, but none are apple brand.

A decent battery case is $40-$50 for non Apple. An apple case is $99 msrp. Either way, a new battery is cheaper.

Also probably because the Plus sized phones have large enough batteries on their own to easily get the majority of users through a day at least. Apple probably figures there’s not enough demand for it.

100% agree. My 12 month old 7S with a battery case has a wear level of 1%, by comparison my sons 11 month old 7S is at 94%. A sample size of 2 is by no means a definitive proof, but regardless i have no choice as the phone wont last the day for me without one.

iPhone plus model phones can easily last the average person all day. People who play games or use Snapchat a lot will be reaching for their charger well before bedtime on most days. I see it at work all the time. People constantly charging their 7+ and 8+.

If you only have 3 hours of usage a day, it might seem insane to think someone could kill the battery in less than a day. I don't game or use Snapchat, but those things destroy battery life. The iPhone #1 strength is it's lack of standby drain. If you work it hard, it really doesn't last that long to be honest. The older it gets, the worse obviously. Even brand new, apple batteries are undersized.

No offence to your coworkers, but if they can game and Snapchat enough at work that they are draining a 7 Plus or 8 Plus, I wonder what they are being paid for.

But really, if one of those phones doesn’t get a person through the day, especially the 8 Plus, since it’s too new to have significant battery wear, they may just need to optimize their settings, or look at their network connection strength. In my experience, one major factor that can contribute to a phone not lasting the day is a weak cellular signal. The device will use a lot of power constantly searching for a stronger signal.

I routinely get over 12 hours of usage time from my 8 Plus, which is usually enough for at least 2 days between charges.

Cool job. Gaming and snapchat all day until you drain a iPhone Plus. Finally something I'm qualified for. Any openings? :)

Lol. Cell signal strength is awful at my work, and the average day is 12-13 hours. Snapchat even being active apparently keeps the camera open. I don't use Snapchat, but I've heard it keeps the camera open at all times or something. So it's easy to see how someone can drain the battery keeping Snapchat syncing and playing music via YouTube or Spotify all day long. Most people have gone to power banks now.

I think a battery case masked an issue on my, at the time, nearly 2 year old iPhone 6. I noticed that, without the case, it would shut off at about 14% remaining.

Probably did some damage to the case too. I decided to give the phone away (after buying new battery), and in the week or so between my using it and giving it away, the case didn't work anymore either.

Don't know how well the battery in the phone is working now 17 months later. The person using it drives a truck, so he likely has it plugged in most of the time.
