If you ran Apple, would you?

Obviously there are a lot of factors and information we aren’t privy to, but just your opinion/best guess.

Personally I’m not a fan of cluttered product lines. I’d rather have a small, a medium and a large tablet and call it a day. Doesn’t bring the absolute same amount of money, but I like things simple. :)

Having a choice of specs and screen size doesn't sound that complicated to me.

It is already complicated. Having said that, why not a non-pro 12,9"? If we can have a 10,2 or 10,9 base model, we could perfectly have a 12,9". I would imagine myself with one of those!

Just a micro OLED screen will increase the cost of new iPads $200-$300! Some may not want/need that so bring it on.

Choices is always good!

Non-Pro 12.9 is worthwhile, some folks want a bigger display, without the performance and cost of a Pro. I also think that we need a Pro Mini. :)

It doesn't seem that different from what Apple is testing out with the iPhone lineup. iPhone 15 and 15 plus, followed by 15 pro and 15 pro max.

So with the iPad, iPad Air and iPad Air plus, followed by 11" iPad Pro and 12.9" iPad Pro? I guess there might be a market for users who do want a larger iPad, but don't want to pay a premium for micro-led and promotion.

Current lineup:
Mac: 8 base models
iPad: 6 base models
iPhones: 8 base models

I think an additional 12.9 Air will not mess the lineup up much. A larger non-Pro makes lots of sense for pen and paper replacement as well as medium consumption.

Ideally I like to see:
iPad Pro 12, 14 inch (these sizes nearly fits within the foot print of 2017 iPPs)
iPad 9, 11, 13 inch (basically built of the Air)
iPad SE

Differentiate between iPad and iPad Pro on SoC, camera, screen tech and SSD size. I have my personal doubts about a a mini Pro if a iPad mini exist.

I think a 12.9 is needed for those who want a cheaper model at that price as the next gen iPad Pro 13 inch sounds like it will get a big price increase

Well I would like one very much. I use my third generation 12.9" iPad with a pencil as a virtual whiteboard to teach mathematics. I connect to a projector if teaching in person or over Zoom to teach online. It's fantastic for this, but I may need to replace it some day. I don't need an M3 processor, or an OLED screen, or Lidar, etc. Just because I need a larger screen doesn't mean I need all these features associated with the Pro.

A 14" screen would be even better.
