Okay so I had my 1.83 Core Duo MacBook Pro replaced. At the time they didn't have any refurbs in stock so they sent me a brand new C2D 2.16 MacBook Pro. Now it had to be replaced again. They wouldn't send me a 1.83 Core Duo if it was a available this time would they? Would they tease a customer like that?

No I'm pretty sure they wouldn't, in their eyes a C2D Macbook Pro needs fixing or replacing so thats what they will do. Fix a C2D Macbook Pro or replace a C2D Macbook Pro.

i've never heard of them downgrading someone in this situation, but that doesn't mean its impossible, just very very improbably. i wouldn't worry.

how on earth do you get two MBPs replaced?

two is nothing! I've had far more than that replaced by Apple...

The answer: have multiple faulty machines out of the box, OR just send your MBP in for repair and let Apple mess it up several times. Simple really.

When it came in it shipped with a broken key so my rep said to send it back and he would ship out another one. He said I was within some sort of time period. Problem is I have been dealing with the same person the whole time. I'm sure he would have told me if he was downgrading me. He said okay so it will be the same machine unless you want to upgrade so I'm guessing that meant if I wanted to add more RAM or bigger HD. Not a whole different MBP.

No luck, No luck, :apple: :(
