I think it would be nice, put the A12 Bionic, LTE, and 3 GB RAM into the body of the 5s/SE 1st gen, and start prices at $299 32 GB, $329 64 GB, and $379 128 GB. It would be a great low end iPhone. I know I am dreaming, but I think this would convert many more Android phone users to the Apple ecosystem.

People also want a better screen, a better camera and the battery life would be absolutely trash.

Why should a 6.5“ android user switch to 4“ screen? Just cos its cheap?

The ship of small screen smartphones has sailed. See the mini…

if it’s just the price apple could go lower but they don’t like. Unfortunately

In addition to the tiny display, I’m sure Android users would love the 20% reduction in battery life compared to the mini.

If you had asked at the start of 2020, I would have agreed with you. Until then, my iPhone 5 and the 1st gen SE were the largest iPhones I'd owned.

But then I bought the 2nd gen SE and I've never regretted it.

I wouldn't really want to go bigger, as one-handed ease of use is important to me, but I also wouldn't want to go smaller. I gave the old SE to a friend and when I see it now, with its tiny display, I know I couldn't go back.

A 12 mini would be perfect but I can't justify the cost.

At this point, $299 would feel overpriced for a phone with those specs and design and would only appeal to a niche audience.

I'd be interested in a phone that size with a full screen display but that seems very unlikely to ever happen.

For me, I'd love the next SE to essentially be the 12 Mini just with updated internal specs at the point of release and priced at $399-$449.

Its called the 13 mini but will cost $699 :p

so maybe in 2years

Would definitely love a smaller iPhone again. I have all my earlier phone-wallets saved in case ;)

I am however ok with the XR I have now. It will even serve me for quite some more time.
It's the biggest phone I've had, but I got used to it.
But if they release a SE size phone, damn I probably would have to buy it :D
