So I would like to get an iPhone, I am a current Sprint customer. So My plan is to buy the iphone, activate it on a prepaid account, and then deactivate the account...do you think that the phone and stuff would still work? Would it be possible to just get the data plan and use it for the data? I would love to buy the iPhone, but in a current contract... thoughts?

No, you won't be able to do anything on it without activation... even if you just wanted to listen to the iPod part of it.

No i would activate it using the prepaid option (in other words fail the credit check...) and then cancel the prepaid account...

Everything other than the phone functions should work fine without a SIM once you activate.
