So there is going to be an application that you have to download when you get the Apple connection kit? From my understanding, it was just going to interface directly into the photo app on the device.

I am wondering if anyone has tried to use something like this:

To plug into a digital camera or like a USB card reader. I am thinking that it might work or plugging it into a hub.

There really is only one way to find out and that's to get it. In theory there really shouldn't be any difference between this and the iPad camera connection kit. Unless it is something that is only enabled on the next firmware and hence the delay in shipment of the kit.

Yes, that is what I was wondering. If they are going to drop 3.2 soon, then that might explain the delay because of the support. If it isn't coming out in the next month, then all of the support should be built it in and it will work. I am going to see if I can find something locally like that or a female to female connector.

as said earlier, this won't work... no drivers.

Think about it, you connect your... whatever USB device... then, what happens? you think if you attach a memory stick, a file window will magically appear on the iPad? If you attach a printer, suddenly every application will include a "print" command? Come on...

Not saying that at all. It is more for a camera and what do you think makes Apple's connector so magical? Is it going to come with software or updated software to make it work.

The drivers will be built into the OS for the Apple connector.
