Would an iPhone jailbroken by Pangu detect and download the iOS 8.1.1 as stock ones? That is, without installing special tweaks to stop the update.

I really, really hate that OTA badge!

Yeah, the later jailbreaks effectively kill the OTA thing dead. You will never know if there is an update or not. Checking for one will simply cause the spinner to appear and nothing will happen. Your device won't ever download because it's never aware that there is anything to download.

I am having an issue with this right now and any guidance would be appreciated. I have manual installed ios 8.1 through itunes, once the phone restarts I kill itunes so that it never connects with teh phone, I then run the pangu jailbreak (phone still does not show there is a software update), once phone reboots I let itunes open and choose to restore from a backup I made a few days ago. At this point the software update available pops up as the phone starts to restore the backup and the settings on my phoen has the badge that it is available. Is there another order I should be doing things to get completely through the process with no update badge on the phone?

If you jailbroke it with Pangu, you should not see update badge on device at all.
I'm guessing the backup was made when the phone was stock, so the software update badge was part of the backup and is being reintroduced when you restore from that backup.

If that is the case. it is going to come back when you use that backup.

Dooote! That is probably definitely what the issue is. Got my replacement phone an hour after 8.1.1 was released and restored a backup prior to jailbreaking the first time, so made a backup before jailbreak was installed..........what timing haha. I don't know what will annoy me more the badge always being there or having to completely redownload all of my apps and rebuild my folders. Thanks for solving the mystery.
