So for context, I'm in my last year of high school and would like to study graphic design in college. I don't have too much experience with graphic design, like I'm not completely new to it either but I definitely consider myself to be a noob in terms of expertise. Though since I would like to do it in college I would like to start warming up to it and getting more used to designing and I associate this with having a laptop. My max max max budget is like around 600-650 but preferably I'd like the price to be around 550-600. I'm gonna admit im not much of a computer nerd but after some consulting I figured as a beginner maybe having 16gb of ram and at least 256gb of storage is essential and at least a 2.0ghzb processor. I'm leaning towards a mac, just cos I'm very accustomed with apple products and MacOS.

A potential buy would be this : https://www.refurbed.it/p/apple-macbook-pro-2017-i5-13/50037b/

What do you think?

Would this be ok for graphic design... So pretty much the adobe creative cloud

MacBook pros with the M1 processor cost around 1k and that's a bit too spendy for me.

What is your guys advice and recommendation?

Thanks :)

Don’t buy Intel MacBook! Even MacBook Air M1 basic will serve you quite oké with a external drive for mediafiles. It will be more than twice faster compared to i7 and the battery will last a day, even with Adobe programs.

Various college design programs have specific computer requirements they put upon the student.

This may include restricting you to a Windows machine, or a Mac.

So whatever you buy now may not work for you in the design program of your choice.

This leaves people on a tight budget in an uncomfortable position.

And if you think you want to use this computer for a while (meaning for more than one year), recommend you not buy an Intel Mac as they are rapidly becoming obsolete.
