I know I, personally, have completely stopped buying music from the iTunes Store but would start again the minute they offered lossless files. That is despite the fact that I subscribe to Apple Music because I still like to own my favorite music. Until then, I've returned to files ripped from CDs or get them from Bandcamp and other sources that offer lossless files. It seems like Apple is missing out on a lot of revenue here, or is that just me?

There's a bit of an * attached to my yes. It's both tied to economy (price of songs and how much money I have at the time), and whether or not the offer of lossless files extends to streaming, in which case, I'm not sure I'd buy the songs. Though I still buy music because I hate monthly payments.

Curiosity question - can you rip losslessly with iTunes or did you use something else? Been ages since I tried.
Also; CDs may be lossless but they're still only 16-bit 44.1khz. Now I won't claim that I can hear any difference at like 192khz or above or whatnot, but what I can hear is the difference in range between 16-bit and 24-bit audio.

iTunes supports ALAC for ripping, but isn't necessarily good at correcting and reporting errors. I can wholeheartedly recommend XLD for ripping CDs. Been using it for an eternity. You're right about the limited resolution of CDs, although 16bit 44.1kHz seems sufficient to get you pretty close if not all the way to what I'd consider optimum sound quality, in my personal experience at least. Anything higher than that would be appreciated as a nice bonus and I do try to choose a slightly higher-res version whenever it's available and doesn't cost much more, just for the peace of mind....
