I almost thought buying a video dock for the iPod Nano 3rd gen was a good idea, until I took a look at the formats for the movie rentals on itunes. Everything I saw was widescreen.

I have a fullscreen tv with 4:3 aspect ratio and the movies are all formatted in cinematic 2.35:1 or similar. I know that the Nano can "fit" to full screen, but what it appears to do is just zoom in, cropping the rest of the movie. I know that fullscreen movies are not formatted this way, they actually include more height.

I'm just saying I would have purchased the video dock and movie rentals if there were fullscreen movies available on itunes.

I understand your frustration however the 4:3 format for television sets is now dead.

Movies have been released in wide aspect ratios for ages and very little TV content is still produced in 4:3.

Apple provide the content in the aspect ratio it was created in.

Might be time to get yourself a widescreen TV.
