Would someone please, please help me? (making button)

Im having a really hard time with the whole 'Adobe CS' thing.
Okay, a little background: I got a RC of my site up today, for everyone's critiquing enjoyment. Many people have suggested I do something whith the top nav bar. In all my infinite wisdom I decided that I need a black/dark grey Aqua (or areo ) pill style nav bar, similar to the one here. I have been sitting in front of photoshop and Illustrator all evening trying to make this darned button, but I simply cant.

Go ahead, laugh.

Okay, ready? Alright. Please O great one who is smarter and much more cool than I, please, please help me. I'd be forever in your debt if you would deem fit to bless me with a Totally Great™ nav bar that fits my site's style and that (if possible) changes color when active. (like the linked OSX page)

I'm afraid I've never looked into making stuff shiny and aquafied so I can't really help. Buuut, I looked at your file and I really like it! It's nice to see something a bit different to the shiny Apple-esque stuff that's around, it's softer and more original in my opinion.

Anyway, either way, I'm sure someone will be able to help, but I just wanted to say I thought you'd made a nice button.

aha, just draw a huge rectangle with similar dimensions and two circles on the sides, fill 'em black, and draw another solid white rectangle over the solid black base. Remove the layer mask (i think that's what it s called, it's a circle-inside-square tool in your layers palette), and then drag down/up with the gradient tool. That's how i make mine. Hope i helped.
