Would Steve do things differently, better or worse regarding Apple's strategies and products ?

  • As long as Apple makes profits and investors are happy, who cares ?

Hi Guys,

Looking at this post, it got me thinking about something that I've seen on many threads/posts :

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-the-return-to-the-ordinary.1964563/

I just thought about what you guys think of how Apple is doing without Steve and whether or not you believe he would do things differently/better/worse as far as Apple's strategies and products are concerned.

Need to lay the "Apple would be doing better under Steve Jobs" or "Steve Jobs wouldn't have approved" to rest !

Cheers !

Jobs was a visionary, even a genius. But he screwed up sometimes, because he was human after all... Apple is doing fine even without him. Things are a little different, but the company is doing great.

Steve is gone. He grew the company to where it is.
This is Tim's time. I like what he's doing. That article is the usual Steve worship/Tim detractor article.
Would people be happy if Apple remained in stasis, frozen in Steve's time? I wouldn't be. I love the choices in sizes. No, it's not Steve's zen. But Steve is gone. Apple isn't a shrine to Steve. It's a functioning company. Consumers aren't frozen in Steve's time. They change and their wants and needs change.
I'm happy with the products I'm seeing. I feel like it's good to let Tim have his time.

It's just impossible to know how it would have turned out. He would have definitely done things differently and while things would be more interesting if Steve was still around because of his personality (and ego) there's no way we will ever know if it would have been better or worse.

Agreed, these what if games can be pointless because we really are only conjecturing on what Apple may or may not be with a completely different person running the show.

The point is, sometimes, some people like to measure one's performance based on the standards of some other person and this is only human nature and very subjective, so while from a logical point of view, it might be 'pointless' but it still makes for an interesting read of people's minds and nature.

If you look at the other thread that I posted in, I also don't believe in what if scenarios but its okay to indulge in some speculation and see what might have been.

Cheers !

I don't know (and, to be totally honest, I don't care) how things would be from an investors/shareholders point of view.
I'd bet anything, though, that things would be better from users' point of view.

Of course, we'll never learn the answer...

Tim is doing good... WHo's knows it may be different, in fact i know it would be..

For starters if Steve was still at the front, we would probably still have a streaming music service.. (maybie).

Not a total loss, and probably actually better if music service never existed since icloud wouldn't be a mess. You can't handle everything in one box and expect it to be sorted can u ?

Apple's learning that with icloud. (The hard way it looks like it)..

I do reckon Steve would have changed that.

"Between the Hedges"
Some see such speculation as "fun"
Others see it as a justification for their personal opinion about Apple products
Still others see it as a way to bash Apple/Tim/(fill in the blank)

And then there are most people, like me, who don't really give a rat's ass about it and grow weary of hearing it brought up ad naseum
