Hello,

I just bought a Mac Pro 2,1, and I would like to upgrade to 32 GB RAM.

I am a not very experienced with macs, so I'm just starting to learn. Hopefully some of you would be kind enough to help me out.

What I would like to do is to upgrade my Mac Pro as much as possible without spending too much money on it.

I just came across this listing on ebay:
Micron 16GB 4X 4GB DDR2 667MHz 2RX4 PC2-5300F Only FB-DIMM ECC Server Memory RAM

Would this work on my Mac Pro 2,1?

Best regards!

Thanks for replying.

Order is now placed (I trust you).

Now comes the long wait. The RAM is sent from China, so probably 20 days :)

Your welcome.

I ran the same type in my 1,1 for years.

The 1,1 and the 2,1 are like the 4,1 and the 5, 1 - the differences are in firmware.

Getting 32 on a 1,1 or 2,1 is fairly cheap. One thing: that ram can get hot quick. Heat can cause problems. I would install macs fan control and have those fans set up to where they stay around 1000 rpm or so. 500 is quiet, but it will run hot. Don't set them at a constant rate but rather pin them to keep certian things cool and it will all iron itself out.
